When you first log into Tempest-GEMS, you may have to select your Applicant, Program (Disaster), and your Grant. This process resembles finding the right folder in the right drawer in the right file cabinet.
Your list of applicants maybe very short or very long. If you work for an Applicant, your list likely has exactly 1 entry. If you work for a consultancy, your list may be a bit longer. If you work for a state then the list will have all applicants for all recent disasters.
In the white box (see arrow above), enter the name or ID of your Applicant. Then hit the enter key on the keyboard or click [GO].
The list will now be filtered based on your entry. I typed "PREPA":
Click in the box below SELECT.
This will start a multi-page wizard.
Confirm you have selected the correct applicant, then click the blue button: Select This Applicant
Select the Program - typically associated with one disaster. Click check box to select one. The most current Programs are at the top. Some Programs may have been set as "inactive". Inactive programs will not appear.
Confirm that you have the right Program and Applicant, then click Confirm.
The Grant Selector will appear with all grants associated with this program. In my example, I am selecting 00251.
Confirm the grant is the one desired.
When the grant is selected, you'll see three areas of confirmation:
Across the top in the light-blue region:
This context bar tells us, we are working with PREPA on a FEMA program and grant. The disaster is DR-4339-PR. And it is a single-site PW: 00251.
The grant list will show a check mark for the current grant. The current grant also has a green background to help it stand out from the others.
The footer region of every page also tells us about the Applicant, Program, and Grant as shown:
